LYNCHBURG, Va. – Dennis L. Jennings, 61, Forest, Va., went home to be with his beloved Savior and Lord Feb. 3, 2015.
He was born April 30, 1953, in Warsaw. He was raised by his mother, Bonnie Baxter, and grandparents, Dale and Ruth Jennings. He was married to Susan J. Jennings, who survives.
He earned his Ph.D. from Stanford University, where he met his wife of 35 years. After two years as a professor at NYU, he transitioned to a successful 20-year career as a telecom marketing executive.
In 2004, he returned to the career he loved best, accepting a position at Liberty University as a professor of psychology where he inspired many with his integrity, passion and love for all of his students. He was a dedicated member of Grace EF Church. His many interests included woodworking, traveling, history and making people laugh.
Also surviving are his children: Natasha Jennings (and BJ Huwyler) and Taneka Jennings (and Brian Smith); his aunt, Jean (and spouse Bill) Stevens; a brother, Dave (and spouse Brenda) Baxter; and his sisters, Sue (and spouse Randy) Schuman and Paula Jean (and spouse Steve) Kincaid.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 21129 Timberlake Road, Lynchburg, Va.
Calling is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Heritage Funeral Home, 427 Graves Mill Road, Lynchburg.
