SYRACUSE – Dennis D. “Denny” Woods, 60, of Syracuse, died unexpectedly Dec. 1, 2012, in his residence. He was born Feb. 27, 1952, in Goshen, to Glenn L. and Louise E. Culp Woods. On July 3, 1983, in Syracuse, he married Beth Anne Savage, who survives. He was a lifetime Elkhart County resident except a short time in Idaho. He graduated from Northridge High School, Middlebury. He formerly worked at NIBCO, Goshen, for nearly 25 years as a tool room supervisor. He attended Calvary United Methodist Church, Syracuse, and was a former short track race car driver at New Paris, Plymouth and Mottville Speedways and worked at various jobs at several other local tracks. Also surviving are a daughter, Gabrielle (and spouse Brandon) Coward, Warsaw; five sons: Caleb (and spouse Jayne) Woods, Steven (and spouse Kara) Woods, Jerry (and spouse Rebecca) Woods and Chad Woods, all of Goshen, and Dennis Jr. (and spouse Jenifer) Woods, Baraboo, Wis.; six grandchildren; his father, Glenn Woods, Goshen; and four brothers, Michael (and spouse Cynthia) Woods, Robert (and spouse Vicki) Woods and Patrick (and spouse Dawn) Woods, all of Goshen, and Glenn Woods Jr., Palm Harbor, Fla. He was preceded in death by his mother. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, with Pastor David Herr officiating. Burial will be in Hire Cemetery, Ligonier.
