Demster Family Has Model Train Accessories To Give Away

Posted
Chuck Demster started his model train set, complete with mountains and a town, in 1976.

He was a member of the Warsaw railroaders club, helping and inspiring others to start their own model train collections and displays.Over the years, Chuck added new accessories and landscaping. His son Chas said Chuck modeled it on the 1950s era, but it wasn't patterned after anything in particular.

"He just wanted a little bit of everything," said Chas.

The last thing Chuck was adding to his collection was a running stream. He never got to finish it. He died in October.

"If you know anything about model railroaders, you know they are never done. If they do get done with it, they tear it up and start all over again," said Chas.

Chuck's daughter, Susie Bolland, and her family are moving into the home. To make room for her family, the train set and all the accessories need to go.

"I hate to tear it up," said Chas, "but it's progress, I guess."

He said they want to give away the track, tunnel, table, power sources and wiring to someone who will use it.

"I just want it to live on with someone else," said Chas.

Due to the possible value of the buildings and HO trains, they likely will be sold, said Chas.

"It looks like the letter 'E' or '3', the way it's shaped," said Chas of the table. If someone cut all the legs off and around the wiring, Chas said whoever took it would have an easier time of transporting it. The set is 25 feet long by 14 feet wide in two spots, Chas said.
