Demos To Rally Monday Against DACA’s End

Posted
The Kosciusko County Democrats will host a rally and march at 6 p.m. Monday at the Center Lake fountains in opposition to the Trump administration's possible decision to end  the Deferred Action of Childhood Arrivals (DACA).

Brian Smith, chairman of the Kosciusko County Democrat Party, assailed the idea of ending the program Friday afternoon.

“United States is the only country that these young people have ever known. It is immoral to jerk the rug out from under them, remove them from their homes, and deport them to a country they know nothing about,” he said.

Numerous media outlets have suggested Trump is on the verge of ending the program, a move that even some Republicans are questioning.

According to Smith, the Center for American Progress estimates that an end to the program would shave $433.4 billion off U.S. Gross Domestic Product over the next 10 years.

“DACA is the promise America has given every other generation before it. The very essence of the great American experiment is at risk with this decision. Defending it is our duty so those who have come forward know we stand with them,” Smith said.
