Democrats & Russians

Editor, Times-Union:

We have competed with the Russians for decades in many areas. Supposedly, Democrats want the best for America and Americans. But Democrats have been promoting Russian aims for so long that when the Russians aren't helping them, they become enemies. You would think Putin would be a big supporter of Hillary because she arranged for 20 percent of our uranium to go to the Russians, and Bill received half a million dollars to speak over there. Obama even allowed Russia to have its way in Syria by not seriously opposing its military as it assisted the Syrian government in its war against those who wanted freedom from oppression. With Trump as president, maybe the Russians can be humiliated in Syria.

I saw the interview Megyn Kelly had with Putin and he was getting fed up with the questions about Russia interfering with our presidential election. The CIA has made it look like other countries have hacked into computer systems so it could have been an American that has made it look like the Russians interfered with the election results.

It looks like the Democrats are doing what the Russians want them to do. If President Trump is successful, America could truly become great again and respected. Russia doesn't want that and neither do Democrats. Russians are used to the government running their lives and Democrats believe in the government running the lives of Americans. The Russians are used to the government controlling the media and cracking down on opposing views. Our media want to decide what is true and false if the facts don't match what they believe, they push what they believe and rail against those that point out they are lying.

Democrats want to control the economy just like the Russian government controls its economy, to some extent. If Trump had supported the Paris Climate Accord, the Russians would have been very pleased because it would have meant we were punishing ourselves while the Russians could go on and become economically stronger. The Democrats would have burdened us with the unwanted regulations and restrictions that would have made the Russian government laugh at us.

The resolve of Ronald Reagan to defeat the Soviet Union at a time when Democrats thought it was a foolish goal brought down the Soviet Union and gave some freedom to the Russians. Democrats will lose more power and influence if President Trump becomes another Ronald Reagan. The left in Russia and here want to bring down the Trump administration. If Democrats regain full control of Congress in 2019, they may prove my contention that they are working with the Russians.
