SYRACUSE - Delmer L. "Ben" Baker, 97, of Fort Myers Beach, Fla., and formerly of Tippecanoe Lake, died April 27, 2007, in Shady Rest Care Pavilion.

He was born July 30, 1909, in Sidney, to Ben F. and Elsie Gross Baker. In 1930, he married Cleo M. Ellis, who died in 1968. On Aug. 5, 1970, he married Joanne Deakne Thorton, who survives.

Moving to Tippecanoe Lake from Fort Wayne in 1954, he lived at Fort Myers Beach, Fla., for the last two years, after being a snowbird for 34 years. He owned and operated Tippecanoe Marina until 1968, and Tippy Mobile Court until 2000. He was a member of the Methodist Church; Masonic Lodge, Warsaw; and Scottish Rite and Mizpah Shrine, Fort Wayne.

Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Judy) Rans, South Bend; a stepdaughter, Laura Lee Lovell, Alexandria, Va.; two grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, Syracuse, with Pastor Larry Kurtz officiating and with a Masonic service. Burial will be in North Webster Cemetery, Mock Addition.
