Dekko Foundation Awards Wagon Wheel $80K, Including $40K Community Match

Posted

Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts has received an $80,000 investment from the Dekko Foundation to support its continued work providing meaningful, accessible arts experiences and education for children and young people.
The award includes a $40,000 outright grant and up to $40,000 in dollar-for-dollar matching funds from gifts made by individuals and corporations, according to a news release from the Wagon Wheel.
Wagon Wheel will apply the matching opportunity to its Next Act campaign, giving community members the opportunity to double the impact of their support. Up to $40,000 in qualifying donations will be matched dollar for dollar by the Dekko Foundation.
The investment will help sustain youth-centered opportunities including Wagon Wheel Conservatory, Wagon Wheel Junior and student field trip performances. These programs give young people opportunities to explore their interests, build skills and confidence, express themselves creatively and develop meaningful relationships with caring adult mentors, the release states. The grant will also support Wagon Wheel’s efforts to make these experiences accessible to more young people, including first-time participants.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Dekko Foundation for this investment and for the opportunity it creates for our entire community to multiply its support,” said Kira Lace Hawkins, education and outreach director. “This funding helps us continue creating meaningful experiences where young people can discover what they are capable of while opening those opportunities to even more children and families.”
