A friend recently sent this to me and I have decided to share it with all of you. It's a short civics lesson:
"Budgets do not come from the White House. They come from Congress and the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democratic party. They controlled the budget process for Fall 2008 and Fall 2009, as well as Fall 2010 and Fall 2011. In that first year, they had to contend with George Bush, which caused them to compromise on spending, when Bush somewhat belatedly got tough on spending increases.
For Fall 2009 though, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid bypassed George Bush entirely passing continuing resolutions to keep government running until Barack Obama could take office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to complete the Fall 2009 budgets.
And where was Barack Obama during this time? He was a member of that very Congress that passed all of these massive spending bills and he signed the omnibus bill as president to complete Fall 2009.
If the Democrats inherited any deficit it was the Fall 2007 deficit, the last of the Republican budgets. That deficit was the lowest in five years, and the fourth straight decline in deficit spending.
After that, democrats in Congress took control of spending, and that includes Barack Obama, who voted for the budgets. If Obama inherited anything, he inherited it from himself.
In a nutshell, what Obama is saying is 'I inherited a deficit that I voted for and then I voted to expand that deficit four-fold since January 20.'
One term of Obama and his Congress is more than enough.
On Wednesday Sept. 15, Paul Compos had an item on the opinion page and part of it is worth repeating. Ryan Frazier is a candidate from Colorado who is running for the House. He's in his 30s, bright, well-informed and energetic, a cheerful, charming, well-educated high tech expert who served five years in the Navy, achieved huge success at large corporations, started his own business and helped start a charter school (I'll bet he's one of the "rich" guys) He wants to repeal and replace "Obama Care" with features such as selling insurance across state lines and tort reform. He is a believer in the free market, "a system that affords us an opportunity to advance our lives."
Frazier was raised in a poor neighborhood, he's African American and he's a Republican. The "Young Guns" in American politics are making a difference in both parties and I say, "Go for it." America is waking up and I hope she keeps her eyes wide open. A vote against socialism on Nov. 2 is a vote for America. God Bless her and keep her free.
