Nick Deeter, founder and board chairman of OrthoPediatrics, has announced his resignation from the company. Deeter will remain at his position until the annual board meeting Sept. 10, according to Mark Throdahl, president and CEO of the company that develops orthopedic devices for children. The board will elect a new chairman that afternoon, Throdahl said, adding that until Deeter’s formal resignation his schedule with the company will remain unchanged. Deeter said this morning he made the decision two weeks ago to devote more time to the other new ventures, companies and boards that he’s involved with, such as Cardinal Services and the Old Leesburg Mill coffee shop and ice cream parlor, which he opened over the weekend. “I think OrthoPediatrics is doing so well, as its entrepreneur and founder, that pretty much all the major challenges are over,” he said, adding that those challenges “are what keeps an entrepreneur’s blood flowing.” Throdahl praised Deeter as a visionary leader. “We certainly credit Nick with the vision he had, long before he founded the company seven years ago. He was able to spot the need for orthopedic products for kids,” he said. Deeter founded OrthoPediatrics in 2006, after holding executive positions at several orthopedic companies for many years. “OrthoPediatrics is moving into a phase where they’re keeping costs under control and growing sales,” he remarked. “It’s time for OrthoPediatrics to keep doing its thing, keep expanding, and it’s time for me to start another one.”
