Warsaw Deer Task Force has set training dates for archers interested in participating in this year's proposed deer-reduction efforts.
During Monday night's city council meeting, Jeff Grose, task force chair, said the task force has met and has set two training dates for archers interested in participating in this year's efforts.
The training dates are Aug. 17 and 21 and will be at Warsaw Police Department, 2191 E. Fort Wayne St.
The Aug. 17 training date will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and is for former archers only. The Aug. 21 training date is from 1 to 2:30 p.m. for archers who previously participated in the reduction effort, and from 2 to 6 p.m. for archers wanting to participate in the efforts.
Those interested in participating in a proposed deer-reduction effort can begin picking up applications at WPD beginning Monday.
Warsaw City Council still needs to approve the hunt for this year. The deer task force committee will present its recommendations for a hunt at the next council meeting, Grose said.
If the council approves another reduction effort, it will be the fourth year.
