Deceased Inmate IdentifiedIndiana State Police have identified the inmate who died in the Kosciusko County Jail Monday.

Christopher A. Hinson, 42, North Webster, was discovered unresponsive in his cell at about 1 p.m. Monday.

Once Hinson was discovered, CPR was attempted but was unsuccessful. The inmate was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Autopsy results are pending.

Hinson was in the jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine and dealing methamphetamine.

Kosciusko County Sheriff Kyle P. Dukes requested the ISP investigate Hinson’s death at the jail.

He is the second inmate to die at the jail in a month.

On March 9, jail staff found an unresponsive man – Dennis Edward McCrory, 39. Staff performed CPR on him and 911 was called. Lutheran EMS continued with CPR. During this time, six doses of Narcan were administered to McCrory. He was taken to KCH for medical treatment and then to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, where he was pronounced dead.

In that case, Dukes said on Monday that his office turned in information to the county prosecutor’s office on a “suspect” and had to wait on toxicology results.

“We’re waiting for a decision this week” from the prosecutor’s office on whether there will be charges, he said.

The Indiana State Police were assisted by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office in Monday’s death investigation.
