A Decatur man was killed late Monday morning in a one-vehicle crash north of Etna Green.
The driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office. He was identified as Lee G. Springer, 59, Decatur, according to a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department news release.
KCSD deputies and emergency personnel responded at 10:47 a.m. Monday to a reported traffic crash at the intersection of Ind. 19 and CR 800N, near Etna Green.
The crash involved a southbound 2002 Ford F 250, which left the eastern edge of the road, striking a fence and a utility pole. The truck continued into the field, traveled some distance before crossing Ind. 19 and coming to rest in a field west of Ind. 19, the release states.
Officers said the crash remains under investigation. The Kosciusko County Fatal Team was assisted at the scene by members of the Etna Green Fire Department, Lutheran EMS, Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office and the KCSD.
