Debra Sue McLaughlin, known by most as “Debbie,” passed away Saturday, Jan. 6, in her Warsaw home. She was 61 years old at the time of her unexpected passing.
Debbie was born Feb. 1, 1956, in Warsaw, to Richard D. and Billie Jo Maggart McLaughlin. She was a 1974 graduate of Mentone High School and spent much of her lifetime in the Warsaw area. She had previously worked as a teachers aide and for Cardinal Center.
A woman of diverse taste, she enjoyed science fiction and especially liked “Star Trek” and “Doctor Who,” preferring the original series over the new release. She loved animals and had enjoyed fishing; one memorable fishing trip of her youth was taken with her father to Eagle River, Wis. Mostly Debbie was a friend – she greatly enjoyed time spent with her friends.
In addition to her close group of friends, she is survived by two brothers, Michael (wife Linda) McLaughlin and Rick McLaughlin, both of Warsaw; and by seven nieces and nephews: Melanie, Erica, Natalie, Mason, Margaret, Billie and Ryan.
Those who preceded her in passing include her parents, Richard and Billie Jo; and niece, Reesha.
Friends and family will gather from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw, to share memories of Debbie. A funeral service will begin at 6 p.m., with Bob Jarboe, chaplain of Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice, officiating.
Private burial will be Thursday in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery.
