Debra Collier’s School of Dance is offering a Pilates open house. “Pilates is a mainstay in the fitness world of metropolitan cities, but it is relatively new to our area,” said studio owner Collier. According to a press release from the studio, “The Pilates Method is a revolutionary concept designed to develop the body as a whole. This mind-body fitness approach lets you achieve flexibility, strength and muscle balance as it emphasizes control, for long, lean muscles.” “It is an extremely versatile exercise system that can be modified to accommodate a range of ability levels from beginners to advanced. Mary Beth Clark customizes sessions so the clients have a workout that is designed for their capabilities,” said Collier. The sessions use the Reformer and Wunda Chair. Symbionics owner and operator Clark is a Physical Mind Institute certified Pilates instructor. She has studied extensively with master Pilates trainers in Toronto, Canada, and in numerous American cities over the last 13 years. She regularly attends workshops to provide her clients with the latest advances in the Pilates Method. The studio will be holding demonstrations Jan. 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Collier said, “This will be an opportunity for people to meet Mary Beth, see how the Reformer works, and what Pilates has to offer them.” Sessions are offered at Debra Collier’s School of Dance Thursday mornings and afternoons. Clients may contact Clark at 260-433-2622 to schedule a free starter session. Additional information is available at collierdance.com and at the studio, 1269 Husky Trail, Warsaw.
