Deborah S. “Deb” Becknell, 56, of Warsaw, died at 12:54 p.m. June 6, 2012, in Parkview Hospital North, Fort Wayne.
She was born June 6, 1956, in Decatur, to Merlin and Carolyn Bixler Steiner. On April 11, 1976, in Berne, she married Luke Becknell, who survives.
Moving to Warsaw from Berne 35 years ago, she was a hair stylist and co-owner of Today’s Headlines. She was a 1974 graduate of South Adams High School, Berne, and graduated from Ravenscroft Beauty College, Fort Wayne. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Warsaw, where she was active in the music team and the Community Closet, which she helped start. She was a perfect wife and great business partner and an ultimate soccer mom. She always welcomed her sons’ friends with a full refrigerator and was known by several of them as their second mom. She was the best nana a little boy could have. She was a a great cook and baker. She selflessly cared for all whether family, friend or stranger. “She was loved by her husband Luke, sons Brian and Craig, their wives, her grandson, her sisters, brother, mother and many other family and friends. They will miss her so dearly but they celebrate her new life with Jesus. Their last few days with her were blessings from God filled with celebration dinners, laughs, hugs, boat rides and lots of time with ‘nana.’ As they join together they remember her as she lived, with joy.”
