Deborah "Deb" Joan Shilling, 61, of Warsaw, died at 10:05 p.m. Jan. 12, 2010, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She was born Dec. 13, 1948, in Lakehurst (N.J.) Naval Base, to Stanley "Pete" and Arlene Gerber Shilling.
She was a lifetime resident of Warsaw, working as a seamstress at Explorer Van, Warsaw. She also attended Warsaw Community Church. She served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1967-70, and received an honorable discharge.
Her grandchildren were her life, just spending time with them, lit up her face with happiness and joy. She was a sweet, loving, mother, mother-in-law, sister and grandma. She had her own way of making people smile. She always put everybody first before herself. She loved attending church at Warsaw Community Church and she found happiness going there.
Surviving are two sons, Shawn Michael (and spouse Melissa Lynn) Shilling, Silver Lake, and Joshua Allen (and spouse Jessica Lynn) Shilling, Warsaw; two grandchildren, Nevaeh Rose and Draven Marcus Shilling, both of Warsaw; four sisters: Rita (and spouse John) Craig; Deanna (and spouse Michael) Ragan; Patti Yarian; and Jackie (and spouse Bill) Tucker, all of Warsaw; and three brothers: Doug (and spouse Carol) Shilling, Silver Lake; Rodney (and spouse Julie) Shilling and Spencer (and spouse Christine) Shilling, all of Warsaw; and many nieces and nephews. They loved her and she loved them. She was preceded in death by her mother, Arlene Gerber Shilling; her father, Stanley "Pete" Shilling; and her stepmother, Ina Rule Shilling.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Palestine Cemetery with Pastor Denny Bollenbacher officiating.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Drive, Warsaw.
