Death Row Vs. Abortion

Editor, Times-Union:

When one considers the increase in knowledge in today’s America (as opposed to 200 years ago), how can anyone not believe that the United States, as a whole, has been dumbed down?

Arkansas sought to have several of its death row inmates executed by lethal injection before their chemical means of execution was set to expire.

I recall seeing a man holding a sign during one news story about this; the sign read “Thou shalt not kill.”

There have been a lot of examples of ignorance in America throughout the years, but this is one that always ticks me off.

Here in Pennsylvania, Gov. Tom Wolf issued a moratorium (or a halt) to executions, with around 171 people on this state’s death row.

No regard for the dispensation of justice, no consideration for the families of victims — just a warped sense of what is right vs. what is wrong.

No thought to placing a stop to abortions, and you can bet there would be a furor if that were to happen.

No, it all boils down to a self-serving politician going against both the will of the people he was elected to serve, as well as the very law which declares execution for murder is legal and just.

So, a pregnant female of any age can have her baby killed and the law won’t stop her, but for the state to put to death a heartless, merciless killer, this is “murder”?

It is a fact that there is no fear of God in this world today. But ignorance of what is right and what is wrong is inexcusable.

A new human life is created at conception; this is a fact. This is innocent life, deserving of protection.

However, when someone is old enough to know right from wrong, and chooses to kill, their life should be forfeited in return.

This nation, and many of its people and leaders, are a mockery and perversion of how a decent society should be.

Our forefathers and our military personnel have died in vain if this is acceptable to any one of us.
