Deaf Ears

Editor, Times-Union:

I was leafing through the dictionary the other day looking up a word and came to "is". Remembering what president Clinton said about the meaning of "is," I spent a little time with the word. The dictionary defined "is" as third person, singular present tense, so "is" no more than that. Therefore is is what it is.

This brought a thought to mind and I checked another word. Turning the pages to "no", I found this refusal, denial, disbelief, emphasis or disagreement. Also used with a comparative as no more. It goes on giving examples of denial or refusal, a negative vote or voter. This brought me to this that surely Congress can speak English, then what part of no don't they understand. With millions tea party demonstrators voicing their disapproval about health care, Cap and Trade, the Fairness Act and other government inroads into the citizens' freedoms, how can they turn a deaf ear to these concerns?

Apparently, they only hear what their owners, or special interests want. They don't represent the citizens of their districts, they only represent their pockets as soon as they take their seat in Washington. They try to palliate their constituents with double talk and hedging. Citizens will never get straight answers from a politician. With the Videos of the town hall meetings, this was evident. Almost all of the politicians would answer straight or take off on a tangent ignoring the questions. When pressed they would get angry.

Coming back to the dictionary a few other words came to mind. First it was corruption, then collusion, bribery, sedition, subversion and then treason. We as citizens need to see if any of these words apply to any of the Congressmen, women or any other government official. Any found guilty of deliberately circumventing the Constitution or trying to destroy the Constitution could be guilty of treason or at least subversion. It is imperative that the citizens of this nation get their country back. Only the voters can defeat the corrupt congressional circus with its collection of clowns.

Alas, poor Anthony who lives a delusional life of a liberal Democrat. You have noticed that the Democrats in this country still blame President Bush for all the troubles. Well, President Hussein Obama has had 10 months to turn things around, but he with his Congress have only compounded the problems. Anthony continues to bash Bush, Sarah Palin and the Republicans for countries predicaments. If he sees all of these problems he should join with us the radical conservatives of different political backgrounds who meet, stand out in bad weather to get our elected representatives to listen to us the patriot citizens of this great nation. I see Anthony as a social introvert who is afraid to stand in public before the tea party citizens and harangue the Republicans or others who want to save this country; instead he hides and writes the continuing insane rhetoric.

My wife and I attend the tea party meetings in several localities and make our frustrations with the Obama Washington known. We are very concerned with the communist tyranny take over of our government. The suppression of free speech and press, Second Amendment, the take over of the Internet and any way the citizens can voice their opposition.
