David Lee Dahlstrom passed away peacefully with family by his side on April 21, 2019, in Grand Rapids, Mich. He was 90 years old.

David truly lived his life in the service and love of his Lord, Jesus Christ, and his family. A smile was ever present with him.

He was born Sept. 5, 1928, to Frank and Jennie Duddles Dahlstrom in Reed City, Mich.

He was raised and lived his life on the family farm in Reed City next to the Old Rugged Cross memorial. The memorial is based on the hymn, which was written by David's uncle (through marriage to aunt Hannah Dahlstrom) the Rev. George Bennard.

He upkept the Old Rugged Cross for many years so believers could visit and enjoy it.

David was employed at Miller/Tubelite Industries in Reed City until he retired, also painting homes on the side most of his life.

He loved the outdoors, making maple syrup in the family sugar bush, gardening, fishing, hunting and spending time with family.

He is survived by his wife, Melva Shook; sons, Leslie and Randy (Karen) Dahlstrom; daughters, Ann (Gary) Lockhart and Amy (David) Smith of Mentone; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Locally, there are two grandchildren, Zack (Kristina) Harding and Tonya (Clint) Burk.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 57 years, Eva Dean Dahlstrom; his son, Gary Dahlstrom; and great-grandson, Ashton Harding.

A funeral service was held at First Baptist Church in Reed City on April 24, 2019.
