David 'Fred' Hockert

NAPPANEE – David “Fred” Hockert, 75, of Nappanee, died unexpectedly of natural causes July 11, 2013, in Elkhart General Hospital, where he had been admitted July 1. He was born June 26, 1938, in Nappanee, to David and Jeanette Richmond Hockert. On Aug. 8, 1958, in Nappanee, he married Linda Stump, who survives. He was a graduate of Nappanee High School and was a lifetime area resident. He had worked at the Associates in South Bend and had been a plant manager for several local companies including Harbor Craft Boat and Creative Dimensions. He had managed McCormick Creek Golf Course for eight years before retirement. He attended Nappanee Missionary Church. Also surviving are a daughter, Beth (and spouse Brad) Sechrist, Nappanee; two granddaughters; a sister, Candace (and spouse Robert) Schnepp, Beiverton, Mich.; and a brother, Steve (and spouse Kathy) Hockert, Nappanee. He was preceded in death by a son. Services will be at 6 p.m. Monday at Nappanee Missionary Church Chapel, with Pastor Dave Engbrecht officiating. Burial will be in South Union Cemetery. Calling is from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday at the chapel.
