David Eugene Dunfee Jr., of Portal, Ga., passed away Aug. 30, 2025, in his home after a long illness.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Barbara Kelley-Dunfee; daughters, Andrea Brumfield, of Silver Lake; and Brenda Kennedy, of Fort Wayne; stepsons, David Jones (Gabriel) and Aecku Edoha (Stacey), both of Portal, Ga.; grandsons: Bradley Fletcher, Knickolas Fletcher and Jacob Brumfield; sisters, Janice (Royce) Ruckman and Patricia (Richard) Schroeder; and twin brother, Douglas (Marsha) Dunfee. There are multiple nieces, nephews and cousins remaining.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Lucille (Lundquist) Dunfee. His previous wife, Rebecca Capron, is also deceased.
Dave grew up in Larwill and, in 1970, he graduated from South Whitley High School. He has several good friends who remain in the area. He retired from Lakeside Press, formerly R.R. Donnelley, in 2019, after 47 years of service. He enjoyed his time there and interacting with co-workers. A lay minister in the United Methodist Church, Dave also had a multitude of hobbies; from those mechanical and electrical to gardening and spending time with his pets. When he enters those Pearly Gates, he will undoubtedly be leaving greasy fingerprints on his way in. He had a special sense of humor and there was never a dull moment in his home. A devoted husband, father and friend, he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
