David E. Church, 87, Pierceton, passed away at 7 a.m. April 17, 2016, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse.
He was born May 22, 1928, in Denver, Ind., to Walter J. and Aloise F. Fournie Church. On March 20, 1954, in Wooster, Ohio, he was united in marriage to Nancy A. Kaufman, who survives in Pierceton. They were married 62 years.
He lived in Sidney from 1934 to 1993 until moving to the Pierceton area. He as a graduate of Sidney High School, class of 1946. He was a farmer and also a factory worker at Gripnut Co., South Whitley, and then he worked for Weatherhead, Columbia City, for 17 years. He served our country honorably in the U.S. Army from Nov. 1, 1950, to Nov. 1, 1952, during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Warsaw New Harvest Church of the Nazarene, Warsaw; Masonic Lodge, Warsaw; and also American Legion Post 253, North Webster.
Also surviving are two sons, Paul Church, Derby, Kan., and Robert Church, Marshfield, Wis.; his daughter, Janet Calhoun, South Whitley; his sister, Annabelle Enyeart, North Manchester; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter and two brothers.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Warsaw New Harvest Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Bill Keen officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, with military honors by American Legion Post 253, North Webster.
Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
