MILFORD - Dave E. Kiefer, 61, of Milford, died June 18, 2009, at his residence.
He was born March 19, 1948, in Bremen, to Raymond and Fern Miller Kiefer. On Sept. 9, 1972, he married Kathie Duerksen, who survives.
He recently worked in the toy department at the Super Wal-Mart, Goshen, and previously worked for 31 years at Newmar Corp., Nappanee. He was a member of Nappanee Missionary Church and performed in numerous plays in the Nappanee Civic Theatre, Enchanted Hills and Lake Area Players. He was in three movies with Richardson Productions and was a member of the Amalgamated Order of Real Bearded Santas. He was a US Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War.
Also surviving are a son, David Jr. (and spouse Laura) Kiefer, Milford; a daughter, Rachel (and spouse Steve) Schmidt, Warsaw; six grandchildren; two brothers, George (and spouse Joy) Kiefer, North Carolina, and Fred (and spouse Judy) Kiefer, Bremen; and a sister, Deb Wise, Bremen. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Nappanee Missionary Church with Marvin Duerksen and Mike Peter officiating. Burial will be in Bremen Cemetery with military honors.
Calling is from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
