NAPPANEE – Darwin G. Hively, 87, formerly of Nappanee, died at 12:45 a.m. Aug. 17, 2011, in Garden Villa, Bloomington.

He was born Jan. 5, 1924, in Akron, to Ray and Mary Kramer Hively. On Sept. 22, 1946, he married J. Phyllis Weldy, who died Jan. 2, 1987.

He was a 1942 Nappanee High School graduate and a a U.S. World War II Army veteran. He was the former owner of Hively’s Plumbing and Heating. He was a member of Nappanee United Methodist Church, Nappanee American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars and a lifetime member of Nappanee Rotary Club.

Surviving are a daughter, Pamela J. (and spouse Thomas) Prough, Bloomington; a son, Kirk A. (and spouse Linda) Hively, Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.; four  grandchildren; and a sister, Roberta Gwin, St. Cloud, Fla.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Nappanee United Methodist Church by the Rev. Linda Craig officiating. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
