NORTH MANCHESTER – Darrell G. Smith, 74, of Sidney, died at 1:28 p.m. Oct. 17, 2012, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born Feb. 9, 1938, in Muncie, to Ward and Lucille Morrical Smith. On April 25, 1964, he married Sharon K. Flowers, who survives. He was a land surveyor and retired from Larry R. Long Associates, Warsaw. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Surviving is a daughter, Lynn Smith, South Whitley. He was preceded in death by a son and a sister. He graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1957 and earned a bachelor’s degree in land survey and building construction technology from Purdue University. He was a member of the American Legion. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Pastor Jim Garrett officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
