Darrell Eugene Leap COLUMBIA CITY – Darrell Eugene Leap, 92, of Columbia City, passed away March 21, 2013, in his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born Aug. 18, 1920, in Cicero, to Lester and Nellie Newby Leap. On Oct. 5, 1939, in Greenfield, he married Geneva Sylvester, who preceded him in death. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient. He owned Leap Excavating and lived in North Webster from 1952-68, Knapp Lake from 1968-2004 and lived in Columbia City since 2004. Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn S. (and spouse Phillip) Roy, Columbia City; granddaughters, Lisa (and spouse Gregg) Robinson and Christine Opperud (and Steve Sagahan), all of Warsaw; and great-grandsons, Darrell and Jordan Bryant. He also was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Leap. Private graveside services will be at a later date in North Webster Cemetery, Mock Addition. No calling is planned.
