Darrel R. Grindle, 81 years old, passed away at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017, in his Warsaw home while surrounded by his loving family.

Darrel was born Feb. 29, 1936, in Pierceton. He was the only son of Albertis D. and M. Frances Wood Grindle. Darrel was a 1954 graduate of Warsaw High School and, on June 9, 1963, he was married to Nadine E. Kittrell in Warsaw. Before his passing, the two would share 54 years.

Darrel served with the United States Army in the National Guard and had been employed at Warsaw Foundry Inc. as a core maker and retired as the core room supervisor. At his June 2000 retirement, Darrel had worked for the foundry for more than 50 years.

An outdoorsman, he loved to fish and was a hunter of multiple species. He even went to Wyoming on several deer hunting trips. He also was an avid bowler with several leagues and at one time bowled five nights weekly. He had a sarcastic sense of humor. He loved watching NASCAR but became limited to listening to the races after diabetes took his eyesight. Jeff Gordon was his favorite driver.

Those left with memories to cherish include his wife, Nadine Grindle, Warsaw; son, Anthony B. Grindle, Cromwell; two daughters, Tamara A. (Rodney) Hunsberger and Hope Everly, both of Warsaw; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan K. Lipscomb, Feb. 11, 2010; grandson, Austin Hunsberger, May 13, 2009; and his sister, Donna Nine, May 4, 1986.

A private family service will be held with the Rev. Dave Hummel officiating. Burial will take place in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery.

The staff of Titus Funeral Home considers it a privilege and an honor to care for the family and friends of Darrel R. Grindle.
