Darlene R. Carlile, 78, of Warsaw, passed away at 6:45 p.m. Aug. 20, 2012, in Millers Merry Manor, Syracuse.
She was born May 18, 1934, in Flinstone, Md., to Buena Vista Walters. On Nov. 5, 1977, in Warsaw, she married Roy W. Carlile, who died Sept. 24, 1977.
She graduated from Flintstone High School in 1952. She honorably served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952- 53. She worked for B&B Shoe Store, Hallmark Store and retired from Sofamor Danek April 11, 1997. She was past commander and chaplain of American Legion Post 49 and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126, both in Warsaw.
Surviving are two sons, Mike (and spouse Kathy) Jenkins, Lee’s Summit, Mo., and David (and spouse Vanessa) Jenkins, Decatur; two daughters, Sharon (and spouse David) Poe, Pierceton, and Lea Ann Tice, Atlantic Beach, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Hoffer, and four grandchildren, Kyle Griffin, Grace Poe, Patrick Jenkins and SSG. Phillip Jenkins.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with Chaplain Tom Everett officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military honors by members of American Legion Post 49, VFW Post 1126 and the ARNG.
