Danny E. Smith, 75, Warsaw, passed away at 12:09 a.m. April 6, 2015, in Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City. He was born Sept. 6, 1939, in Clunette, to Clinton E. and Dora Jane Harter Smith. On June 6, 1986, he married Bonnie L. Thompson Smith, who survives in Warsaw. He was a resident of Kosciusko County throughout the past 37 years. He was a graduate of Silver Lake High School, and afterwards he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1958 serving as a mechanic. He was honorably discharged in 1978 after 20 years of proud service. He continued to work as a mechanic after his military career for the Indiana Department of Transportation. He was a member of the VFW Post #1126 of Warsaw and a member of Warsaw Wesleyan Church. He will also be lovingly remembered by his seven daughters: Dodie (and spouse Dan) Kreger, Warsaw; Wanietta (and spouse Don) Stuckey, Spencerville; April (and spouse Scott) Schaefer, Payne, Ohio; Shannon (and spouse Jim) Aaronhalt, Spokane, Wash.; Stephanie Stanley, Pierceton; Dora (and spouse Josh) Bays, Claypool; Jeanette Smith, Seattle, Wash.; two sons, Chris (and spouse Medi) Smith, Warsaw, and Mark (and spouse Cindy) Smith, Moreno Valley, Calif.; son-in-law, Juan Ceballos, Leesburg; 35 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Sharon Hoffman, Wabash, and Beverly Helfrick, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jamie Ceballos; a granddaughter, Rein Morrow; and brother, Teddy Smith. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with Pastor Andy Weaver officiating. Burial and graveside services are in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Warsaw, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #49 and the VFW #1126, both of Warsaw, and active duty honor guard from the Air Force.
