Danny “Dan” Lee Anglin, 81, Warsaw, passed away at 11:09 a.m. Dec. 6, 2014, at his residence. He was born Jan. 21, 1933, in Nappanee, to Wallace “Monk” and Enid B. Snider Anglin. On July 2, 1966, at Walnut Creek United Methodist Church, Warsaw, he married Marilyn L. Smith Anglin, who survives in Warsaw. He was a lifelong resident of Kosciusko County. An avid sports fan, he played basketball at Atwood High School and Manchester College. He was a 2010 inductee to Kosciusko County Basketball Hall of Fame. He enjoyed golf, bowling and boating on Lake Tippecanoe. He was a very proud Marine, serving the country during the Korean War. Taking great satisfaction in helping others, he held several community roles including being a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church of Atwood, Atwood Lions Club, Boy Scout leader, Little League coach, Cardinal Services Inc. volunteer and past president and a life member of the American Legion Post 49 and V.F.W. #1126, both of Warsaw. He was a farmer, a business owner and part owner of Clunette Elevator. He was also known for selling his white sweet corn in the summer and plowing out many Atwood area driveways in a John Deere tractor for free during the winter. However, his greatest enjoyment came from coaching and watching his children and grandchildren participate in their endeavors. Always supportive, always smiling with a twinkle in those blue eyes, he shared that smile with so many throughout his life. He will be deeply missed by family, friends and the community. The Marines’ Hymn says Heaven’s streets are guarded by United States Marines. God, Corporal Anglin peacefully reported aboard from his home after a magnificent tour of duty on earth. Semper Fidelis. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Marilyn L. Anglin, Warsaw; two daughters, Anje Anglin (and Gerry Baber), Warsaw, and Aimee (and spouse Ryan) Graves, Columbia City; a son, Dion (and spouse Nicole) Anglin, Naperville, Ill.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Connie Jordan and Sue (and spouse Larry) Shively, all of Warsaw. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Derek Anglin, who died Jan. 3, 2012. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with Pastor Jim Lawson officiating. Burial is in Stony Point Cemetery, Atwood, with full military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #49 and V.F.W. #1126, both of Warsaw, assisted by Echo Company, 4th Reconnaissance Battalion from Joliet, Ill. Calling is from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. ***** Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Indiana Chapter, 50 E. 91st St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240 and would be appreciated by his family.
