Daniel O Ragan, 59, Binghamton, N.Y., died peacefully at 9:07 p.m. March 11, 2014, at his residence. He was born June 1, 1954, in Warsaw to Bert Edward and Alma Lois Groat Ragan. He graduated in 1972 from Walla Walla High School in Washington. After graduation he entered the U.S. Air Force. While serving his country he was stationed in Idaho and then in Korea. After an honorable discharge he relocated to Indiana where he joined the American Legion, Post #49. He attended Indiana University. After attending college and working for Indiana University, he relocated to New York where he worked for Cornell University. He started his own business, Coremeld Consulting, after relocating to Binghamton New York. He was a lifelong musician. He was also very proud of his Irish heritage. Through music he combined the two. He loved playing Irish jigs and songs on his penny whistle, and never traveled without it. He played professionally in Binghamton with fellow musicians. A very charismatic man, his eyes constantly twinkled with mirth; his grin was infectious and with his wit he could fill a room with laughter; with his love and zest for life, a room full of sunshine; and with his music and his faith, peace for the soul. He will be so very missed by his friends and loved ones, and will always be remembered with fondness and love, especially by his mother, Alma, who survives in Auburn, Calif. May his Irish eyes always smile down upon us. Also surviving are three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Janet Clark Robertson, Auburn; Linda (and spouse Jim) LoBue, Auburn; and Kathleen (and spouse Rusty) Styles, Elkhart; and 10 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Bert Edward Ragan, who died Nov. 28, 2001. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Warsaw's Oakwood Cemetery-Legion Circle #3, with Joey Shepherd officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126. Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, is in charge of arrangements. ***** Memorials to American Heart Association, 208 S. LaSalle St., Suite 900, Chicago, IL 60604.
