Last night, I told my wife that I needed to write a letter to the editor. I saw the third driver in a week pass someone on the left, in an intersection, at a double yellow line. I felt that I needed to send a warning that this is dangerous and illegal. It seems that the roads are getting more dangerous around here.
This morning, as I was riding my bicycle to work, I stopped at the stop sign on CR 300N at Silveus Crossing with my arm out indicating a left turn. An oncoming truck turned his right turn signal on, so I proceeded into the intersection. As I got part way out a truck behind the one turning, pulled out and passed him, over a double yellow line, in the intersection. I had to race across onto the gravel road just to protect myself.
Flashes of the memories of July 2, 2007, went through my mind. While riding my bicycle, I was struck by a truck east of town fracturing my shoulder blade and one vertebrae. (By the way, I know that it is too late for a retraction, but I was not lagging behind as the caption on July 3 read, I was at the end of a pace line behind two other riders.)
When you are driving, remember the laws are not just a suggestion. They are to be followed to protect you and others. Slow down and take a little time, you'll protect your life and others.
