Warsaw Redevelopment Commission approved Monday Riepen Limited Partnership, doing business as Danco Anodizing, as an economic revitalization area for tax abatement purposes.
Danco Anodizing is at 2450 Deelyn Drive, Warsaw.
The Warsaw City Council approved the resolution at its Aug. 20 meeting.
Danco Anodizing will expand their existing facility by 16,000 square feet. Danco has estimated the value of the proposed project will be $1.2 million, and create an additional 14 jobs with total estimated salaries to be approximately $434,000.
The $1.4 million tax abatement will be used to purchase manufacturing equipment the company will purchase during the expansion of the facilities.
The tax abatement is for 10 years.
The industrial subdivision was annexed in after the 1997 ERA resolution, requiring Warsaw to declare the area as an economic revitalization area, according to City Planner Jeremy Skinner.
Skinner presented a resolution at the commission's Aug. 6 meeting designating lots 20 and 21 in the plat of McElroy Hill Business Park as an economic revitalization area for the purpose of continued tax abatement.
The commission tabled the request at the August meeting to receive clarification from Danco Anodizing's attorney, and to allow city attorney Mike Valentine to review the request.
Also during the meeting, Skinner said he received drawings and bid documents from Herceg and Associates the last week of August for driveway improvements at the entrance of Da-Lite Screen at the intersection of Ind. 15 and CR 300N.
He said he hopes to advertise for bids for the project this week and have the Board of Public Works and Safety review the bids at its Oct. 5 meeting.
The commission will meet again Oct. 1 at noon at city hall. Commission members are Charles Smith, Tammy Rockey, Savina Kralis, Neal Carlson and Kyle Babcock.
