Warsaw police investigating three men dancing beside a vehicle in an alley early today found a large stash of marijuana, leading to three arrests.
Responding to a report of three men breaking into a vehicle in the 200 block of South Buffalo Street, police arrived to find three men instead dancing around a red Ford Focus, its windows down and music playing, police said.
As police began to question the men, officers noted the stench of burnt marijuana and found a burnt marijuana cigarette lying next to the sedan, police said. Police also noticed an alcohol odor on the men and said they each appeared intoxicated.
A search of one of the men - Nathan Ray LaFountain, 21, of 3284 N. Bugle Court, Warsaw - turned up 52 grams of marijuana in baggies on him. LaFountain admitted the drugs were his, police said, and he was arrested for felony marijuana possession and public intoxication.
Another man - Robyn Andrew Stroud, 20, of 1396 W. CR 800S, Claypool - was found to have two grams of marijuana, police said. Stroud was booked into Kosciusko County Jail on a possession of marijuana charge, as well as on minor possession and public intoxication counts.
The third man - 19-year-old Devin Michael Brown, of 405 S. Main St., Claypool - was booked into jail on a minor possession charge.
Police and a K-9 found rolling papers, a pipe, a pill bottle and controlled substances inside LaFountain’s car, police said. Those finds could lead to additional charges, police said.
