Members of the Edgewood Middle School, Lakeview Middle School and Warsaw Community High School bands were treated to a master class presented by the Dallas Brass Jan. 27. Prior to performing their concert in the WCHS Performing Arts Center that evening, the Dallas Brass spent the afternoon working with nearly 300 band students in grades 7-12. Two members of the Dallas Brass, Michael Levine, music director, and WCHS alumnus Jeff Handel, rehearsed the bands on the music that they would perform at the evening concert. The remaining members of the Dallas Brass joined them for a master class, during which Warsaw band students were given instruction on a variety of topics, including practicing, listening, style and expression, and playing music for fun. During the evening concert, the Dallas Brass combined with the middle school bands on a medley of themes from the 'Star Wars' movies and with the WCHS band on 'American Tableau,' a medley of patriotic songs.
