COLUMBIA CITY — Dale Wayne Moser, 86, rural Columbia City, went to be with the Lord at 6 a.m. Jan. 17, 2017. He was an inpatient at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. He was born Aug. 23, 1930, in Geneva, a son of Edwin and Elma Kneuss Moser. His formative years were spent in Geneva. He completed his education in Newton High School, Pleasant Hill, Ohio. On Feb. 19, 1952, he was inducted into the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Germany. On Jan. 26, 1954, he received an honorable discharge. He returned to the Geneva area, where he delivered gas and oil products. He later moved to Columbia City, working with Wilson’s IGA. In 1965, he built and operated Dale’s IGA on North Main Street in Columbia City, which he sold to Scott’s Foods in 1968. He then went to work for Superior Sanitary Supply, Fort Wayne, until 1981, when he joined Superior Supply, Marion, where he worked until 1994. In 1994 he joined HP Products, Indianapolis, as an area sales representative and continued until recently, when his health declined. On June 8, 1986, he was united in marriage to Janet Bartz. They made their home in rural Columbia City. He was the founder and pastor for Gospel-Land Ministries Inc., maintaining a church on Douglas Avenue, Columbia City. His passion was for his church, and he served with many organizations to spread the gospel and help others, including Whitley County Jail Ministry, 1987-1997; Drug Free Indiana; Public Defenders organization; and was a founding member of Life Center of Whitley County. During the summer months he enjoyed his vegetable garden. Surviving are his wife, Janet; a son, Jerry (spouse Whitney) Moser, Huntertown; two daughters, Dalene Moser and Darlene (spouse Bart) Walcutt, both of Fort Wayne; a stepdaughter, Kathy (spouse Adam) Bottles, Columbia City; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded by a son, Bruce Moser; a brother, Gordon Moser; and sisters Helen Franze, June Study, Imogene Skipper and Janean Mills. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery.
