ARGOS – Dale Vernon Thompson, 92, of Walnut St., Argos, died at 9:29 a.m. Feb. 21, 2013, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, following a sudden illness. He was born Oct. 25, 1920, near Argos, in Green Township, to Alva and Hazel Kindig Thompson. On June 22, 1947, at Walnut Church of the Brethren, Argos, he married Lois Pfeiffer, who died Dec. 15, 1993. A lifetime Argos community resident, he was a heavy equipment operator and a member of Local 150. He belonged to the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served his county in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II, stationed at Thurleigh Field in England with the 423rd Bomb Squad, Heavy Bomber Operations from Sept. 15, 1942, to Nov. 15, 1945. He graduated from Argos High School in 1939. Surviving are his children: Robert Kirk (and spouse Pamela) Thompson and Dan Alan (and spouse Kathy) Thompson, all of Plymouth; Kaye Louise (and spouse Mike) Wallen, Warsaw; and John Charles (and spouse Amy) Thompson, Terre Haute; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Erma Ellinger, Bourbon, and Bernice (and spouse Wayne) Reese, Warsaw. He also was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gregory Lee Thompson; a grandson, Matthew Thompson; two brothers, Charles and Eldon Thompson; and two sisters, Bertha Thacker and Eva Lawmaster Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Walnut Church of the Brethren, Argos, officiated by the Rev. Robert E. Rice Jr. of the church. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery with the U.S. Air Force and Argos American Legion conducting the service.
