Dale R. Schrock, 91, passed away July 9, 2016, in his Claypool home.
He was born Oct. 12, 1924, in Clinton Township, Elkhart County, to Richard V. and Pearl V. Sheely Schrock. On June 23, 1946, in Millersburg, he married Alice Ruth Rink, who survives in Claypool.
He attended Clinton and Millersburg schools and was a 1943 graduate of Millersburg High School.
In June, Dale and Alice celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with a surprise party.
He enlisted in the US Navy June 9, 1943, in Goshen. He proudly served his country aboard the USS Medusa in The Pacific Theater during World War II. SK1c Dale Robert Schrock was honorably discharged April 17, 1946.
He lived all of his life in the Goshen area until retirement when the couple would travel to their home in Mission, Texas, for the winter months. They moved their summer residence to the Claypool area from Goshen about 10 years ago.
He was a truck driver for Elkhart Distributing for 35 years, retiring in 1986. He was a avid fisherman; enjoyed camping; and spent time teaching grandchildren and great-grandchildren to water ski.
Also surviving are two daughters, Dale Ann (and spouse Terry) Pace, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Nita (and spouse Jim) Malcolm, Claypool; seven grandchildren: Michelle (and spouse Rodney) Schrock, Goshen; Carie (and spouse Al) Mondero, Lafayette; Jocelyn (and spouse Tom) Lynch, Charlottesville, Va.; Staci (and spouse Kevin) Goss, Dunlap; Kellie (and spouse Tom) Altruda, Claypool; Brandon (and spouse Megan) Pace, Melbourne, Fla.; Brad (and spouse Nicole) Malcolm, Chicago, Ill.; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Jean MaKximenko, who died in 1977; a sister, Doris Williams; and a brother, Dallas Schrock.
Services will be at noon Monday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Mike Settles, Claypool United Methodist Church, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Brown Cemetery, Millersburg, with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 49 and VFW Post 1126, both of Warsaw.
