ROCHESTER - Dale M. Felts, 74, of Avon Park, Fla., and Silver Lake, died at 2:40 a.m. Dec. 10, 2009, in Florida Hospital, Lake Placid, Fla.
He was born June 28, 1935, in Rochester, to Howard and Helen Goodwin Felts. On April 4, 1963, in Louisville, Ky., he married Rosella Murfitt, who survives.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and also served in the U.S. Marines Reserves. He was a farmer; worked as a chemist for Farm Bureau; worked at Chamberlain's; sold real estate for Manitou Realty; and had owned and operated Felts' Snack Shoppe, Akron, for many years. Later in life he obtained his licensed practical nurse certification and worked in the emergency room at Florida Hospital Lake Wells. He attended Roann Church of God.
Also surviving are his children, Patricia (and spouse Jeffery) Stoops, Plainfield; Dairl (and spouse Nancy) Sander, Akron; Melinda (and spouse Dave) Pettet, Brook; Tina (and spouse George) Dryer, Avon; Brian Felts, Avon Park; and Neil (and spouse Ellen) Felts, Rochester; and 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Revs. Lowell Burrus and Jason See officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester, with military graveside service by members of Rochester American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
