D. Lucille Gaither, 96, of Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, passed away at 5:17 p.m. Oct. 26, 2016. She was born on July 3, 1920, in Monett, Mo., to Veda E. Taylor Owens and Charles W. Owens. On Oct. 1, 1939, she was married to Berlin Donald Gaither, who passed away on Jan. 8, 2001. Since 1981, she was a resident of Kosciusko County, where she was a member of Winona Lake Free Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Thrifty Fifty in Winona Lake, Christian Women’s Club and Winona Lake Literary Club. She was a homemaker who loved her family very much and will be greatly missed by family and friends. She will be lovingly remembered by her two sons: C. Duane (wife Carolyn) Gaither, Indianapolis, an d Eldon R. Gaither, Warsaw; three grandchildren; a stepgrandson; seven great-grandchildren; and her half brother, Charles Owens, New Mexico. She was preceded by her parents, husband and two sisters. Her funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, officiated by Pastor Henry Church. A graveside service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
