AKRON – D. Jean Ellis, 86, Akron, died at 9:20 a.m. June 3, 2015, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw. She was born March 6, 1929, in Rochester, to Estle L. and Mary E. Nellans Bryant. On July 28, 1950, in Valparaiso, she married Leroy Ellis, who preceded her in death Dec. 7, 1963. She had worked at various places in Akron, most recently at the Mini Mart, Akron. She graduated from Akron High School. She was a member of the Akron United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Surviving are two sons, Daniel (and spouse Doran) Ellis, Carmel, and Steve (and spouse Karla) Ellis, Kewanna; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Tom and Phillip J. Ellis; a sister, Betty Landis; and a brother, David L. Bryant. Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor David Eaton officiating. Burial is in Nichols Cemetery, Akron.
