AKRON – Cynthia “Cindy” S. Sitts VanKersen, 56, of Akron, passed at her residence at 11:33 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 2021, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Cindy was born on Oct. 9, 1964, in Warsaw, to Billy E. and the late Janie I. Willard Sitts.
She had worked for Zimmer Orthopedics as a materials handler for 18 years. She enjoyed making crafts and tending to flowers. She took pride in working on her home. her grandkids and her family meant the world to her.
She is survived by her children: Dale “D.J.” Shepherd, of Rochester; and Shannon Shepherd and fiance James Green, of Niles, Mich.; grandchildren: Teagan, Mataya, Mason, Dale III, Branton and Kaden; father, Billy and wife Ruthie Sitts, of Warsaw; siblings: Peggy and husband Todd Anglin, of Akron; and Billy Jr. and wife Danielle Sitts, of Cromwell; and loving papa and companion Todd VanKersen, of Galesburg, Mich.
Cindy is preceded in death by her mother, Janie Sitts.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Bob Brown officiating. The interment will take place in the Akron Cemetery, Akron. Visitation hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28 at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.
