SYRACUSE -ÊA Syracuse man is in critical condition undergoing emergency surgery after an early morning accident today.
Roger A. Butt, 54, of Syracuse, was southbound on Syracuse-Webster Road near the intersection of CR 650E when his motorcycle hit a deer around 5:48 a.m..
Butt, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, suffered head injuries and was airlifted to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. Emergency surgery was being performed on Butt this morning.
The accident remains under investigation.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scene by the Syracuse Fire Department, Syracuse EMS and Lutheran Air Ambulance.
