The Mentone Town Council met briefly Tuesday night for the first time in 2012.
Incumbents Tim Croy and Jill Gross along with town council newcomer Shelly Krueger elected Croy as the town council president.
The council approved paying the town’s water and sewage employees for working weekends and holidays.
The employees will be compensated for working weekends and holidays on a quarterly basis.
Utilites Superintendent Eric Carlin wasn’t at Tuesday night’s meeting but the council approved a trip for him and one of his employees to a conference in Indianapolis Feb. 21 through 23.
The council approved an agreement with Kosciusko County concerning the Mentone Police Department.
Funds were also approved to be transfered to balance the town’s budget.
A Mentone resident complained that a ditch that runs through town has branches and logs in it and trees along the ditch are hanging over including near the town’s baseball diamonds.
Croy said he’s already talked to the county about it but would ask again.
