Cromwell Man Faces Sexual Battery Charge

A Cromwell man was arrested Monday after allegedly entering a woman’s home and touching her improperly without permission.

Ricky Albert Duchaine Jr., 39, of 347 N. Jefferson St., Cromwell, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 3:21 p.m. Monday for residential entry, sexual battery and burglary of a dwelling. His preliminary bond was set at $15,250.

Court documents filed Tuesday list the charges against him as burglary, a level 4 felony; and sexual battery, a level 6 felony.

On Monday, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s deputy Shane Bucher responded to a report of an attempted rape. The location was redacted in court documents. Upon arrival, he spoke with a woman, who said she was sleeping in her bed when she was awaken by Duchaine kissing her forehead and touching her genitalia over the top of her clothing. She said she started crying and told Duchaine to stop. He then left the residence, according to court documents.

She said she knows Duchaine, but she did not give him permission to enter her residence or touch her. She said her daughter saw Duchaine exiting the bedroom.

Duchaine admitted to police he went to the woman’s residence and entered her bedroom without her knowledge, but left when the woman started crying.
