Crime Stoppers is a not-for-profit organization that was started to give citizens an incentive to provide anonymous information to law enforcement. Kosciusko County is part of the South Bend regional Crime Stopper area where calls initially are received. Anonymous information is then disseminated to the appropriate county and agency of where the crime actually occurred. Callers are given an I.D. number for reference and are contacted back if the information leads to an arrest or indictment. Crime stoppers does not use caller I.D. which encourages otherwise reluctant callers to provide information.Kosciusko County was provided with available funding through an endowment from Pierceton residents Fred and Nedra Beebe's estate.
