Continuously serving Kosciusko County since 1854
Three Creighton Brothers properties received damage from strong winds Wednesday when a rare fall tornado ripped through Kosciusko County.
After touching down in Marshall County near Rochester and Talma, the twister hopped up to Ind. 25 and Ind. 331.
On the way to Warsaw the winds destroyed a barn at Creighton Brothers' Farm Center at CRs 100S and 800W, broke an irrigation system at CR 900W and proceeded to tear the roof off the just-completed layer facility south of Etna Green on CR 900W, south of CR 200S. About 50 acres of the egg farming operation's corn was laid flat, too.
"No one was hurt," general manager Ron Truex said of employees, adding no birds were harmed during the storm, either.
Construction on the two new chicken houses began last year. The company was just preparing to begin egg-laying operations there.
