WABASH - Beacon Credit Union announced it has awarded eight $500 scholarships as part of its annual scholarship program.To be eligible for the scholarships, it was required that all applicants be entering their freshman or sophomore year of college and be a member or have a parent or guardian who is a member of Beacon Credit Union. Applicants were asked to complete a short application form and submit a 200- to 300-word essay on the following question: If you were campaigning for president of the United States, what would be your top three or four priorities to provide new strength to the U.S. economy?
Of the 81 applicants, eight students were awarded scholarships by the Beacon Credit Union Scholarship Committee. The local winners were: Meghann Kiester, Manchester Junior-Senior High School; and Ashleigh Kiester, Manchester Junior-Senior High School.
