Crash Report Offers More Information On Friday’s AccidentA Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office accident report has provided more information on Friday afternoon’s one-vehicle crash on CR 300E.
The incident took place at 4:33 p.m. on North CR 300E, approximately 1,000 feet north of East Old 30, Warsaw.
Leo C. Lange, 37, Kendallville, was traveling south in a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu on CR 300E approaching East Old 30. As Lange was driving down a hill, he began to lose control of the Malibu and it left the east side of the road. The Malibu then hit a NIPSCO utility pole and began to roll over multiple times, according to the report.
Lange was ejected out of the vehicle and landed in the grass about 40 yards from the vehicle. Complaining of pain to the head, he was taken by helicopter to Lutheran Fort Wayne Hospital.
The report indicates the Malibu’s airbag did not deploy and Lange was not wearing a seatbelt. A blood test for alcohol also is pending.
Damage was also reported to landscape owned by Lella M. Holbrook, North CR 300E, Warsaw. Total damage to the vehicle, utility pole and landscape was estimated at $25,000 to $50,000.
