COLUMBIA CITY - A Syracuse woman was killed in a crash on U.S. 30 near Columbia City.
Linda J. Dietzen, 51, of Grand Boulevard, Syracuse, was pronounced dead after she was airlifted to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne Sunday afternoon.
According to the Whitley County Sheriff's Department, Dietzen was driving on U.S. 30 near the intersection with CR 300N, when she collided with the back end of a semi-tractor trailer driven by Jeffrey E. Brown II, 24, of Kansas City, Mo. Brown suffered no injuries in the crash.
Police say Dietzen was eastbound on U.S. 30 following Brown's semi, which was slowing for a traffic light at the intersection. When the light turned green, Brown was crossing the intersection, and Dietzen's vehicle reportedly hit the semi from the rear.
Dietzen was airlifted from the scene of the crash to Parkview Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
